About
Taozhu (桃渚风景名胜区) is a national park of China (ninth batch, designated by the State Council in 2017), located in Taozhu Town, Linhai, Taizhou, Zhejiang.
The scenic area is in Taozhu Town, eastern Linhai, Taizhou, Zhejiang, facing the East China Sea, and combines a Ming-dynasty defensive town, volcanic-rock coastal scenery and beaches.
Taozhu Town was built in 1387 against Japanese pirates, and the general Qi Jiguang fought them around here in the Jiajing period; the site is a protected monument. The area has odd rock forms of volcanic origin, such as the 'coral rock', the 'Great Wall' peak forest and the Thirteen Islets of Taojiang, plus the Longwan beach and the Wukeng valley, known as a 'little Yandang'.
Travel tips
About an hour by road from Linhai city. The old town and coast can be seen in a day. Summer suits the beach; avoid the coast and hills in typhoon season. The rock areas have many steps, so wear shoes with good grip.
