About
Mount Ling in Shangrao, north-east Jiangxi, is a national park of granite peaks, Danxia-like rock formations and Taoist sites.
It is in the seventh batch of national parks of China (national scenic areas) named by the State Council in 2009.
Travel tips
Getting there: Mount Ling is in Shangrao, Jiangxi. Shangrao station is a junction for several high-speed lines, with trains from Nanchang, Hangzhou and Fuzhou. From the city centre a bus or taxi takes about 40 minutes.
Airport: Shangrao Sanqingshan Airport has a few flights, but most visitors arrive by train.
Scenery: The mountain is known for granite peaks and odd rocks. Stairs and plank paths link the main sights along a loop.
Time: A day is enough for the main route. If you are fit, add nearby Mount Sanqing.
Season: Spring brings mist and autumn has the clearest days. Summer is humid with storms; in winter there may be ice on the steps.
Where to stay: Shangrao city is convenient; for sunrise stay in a farm lodging at the foot of the mountain.
Caution: Steep rock sections have railings, but steps are slippery after rain, so wear shoes with grip. Holidays are crowded; enter early.
