Travel tips
Getting there: Fu'an is in Ningde and has a station served by fast trains, a little over an hour from Fuzhou. From the station take a taxi or bus to Mount Baiyun.
Location: The mountain is close to Fu'an city, a short drive from town, so a day trip is practical.
What you see: The area is mountain, rock and temples. Most routes climb stone steps, and from the high points you can look over Fu'an.
Time: Half a day to a day. For an easy plan, climb in the morning and return to town in the afternoon.
Season: Mist is common in spring and autumn is clear. Summer is hot, so start early; typhoons affect the Fujian coast in summer and autumn.
Where to stay: Stay in Fu'an city, where food and transport are concentrated.
Nearby: Fu'an is in eastern Fujian. Nine Dragon Cascades and other Ningde sites, and Fuding and Xiapu to the north, can join the same trip.
