About
Yuhua Cave lies below Tianjie Mountain 5 km south-east of the Jiangle county seat, Sanming, Fujian. About 6 km long with two passages, it is made up of six branch caves: Canghe, Leigong, Guozi, Huangni, Xiyuan and Baiyun.
It is in the fourth batch of national parks of China (national scenic areas) named by the State Council in 2002.
Travel tips
Getting there: Yuhua Cave is in Jiangle County, Sanming, Fujian, 5 km southeast of the county seat. Take a long-distance bus to Jiangle from Sanming, Nanping or Fuzhou, then a local bus or taxi to the park.
Inside: the cave has six branches and about 6 km of passages in all. Visitors walk part of it on walkways and steps, past stalactites, columns and flowstone.
Time: the cave takes roughly one and a half to two hours; with travel, half a day.
Season: the cave is cool all year, so summer suits it; in the wet season water levels rise and some sections may close.
Where to stay: Jiangle town is the most convenient.
Nearby: Jinhu lake at Taining lies to the northwest, and Wuyi Mountain is farther; with time they can be joined.
Caution: the cave is damp and the steps slippery, so wear shoes with grip and bring a light jacket.
