About

Jinhu (“Golden Lake”) lies in Taining County in north-west Fujian and is named for the gold once mined there. The area covers 137 km², 36 km² of it water, with Danxia hills; its sights include Water and Sky in One Line, Asking the Way in the Secluded Valley, the Winding Cloud Path, the Lone Pillar Temple, the Golden Cat Bathing in Sunlight, the Tiger’s Fort, the Mandarin Ducks, the Minister’s Mansion and the hanging waterfall.

Primeval vegetation survives, with rare animals such as the South China tiger and clouded leopard.

Ganlu Temple: founded in 1146 under the Southern Song, a timber complex built into a cliff recess beside Dajin Lake.

It is in the third batch of national parks of China (national scenic areas) named by the State Council in 1994.
