About
The Ziquejie Terraces–Meishan Dragon Palace scenic area is in Xinhua County, Loudi, Hunan, and was in the sixth batch of national scenic areas in 2005. The Ziquejie Terraces, in the Xuefeng Mountains in the west of the county, climb from the valley floors to the hilltops and are watered by springs seeping from the weathered granite above, without ponds or reservoirs. The Meishan Dragon Palace, by the Zi River north of the county town, is a cave of several levels in limestone, with an underground river; Meishan is the old name of Xinhua. The two are over 40 km apart.
Travel tips
Getting there: high-speed train from Changsha to Loudi, then bus to Xinhua; the terraces are at Shuiche and the cave at Youxi, visited separately.
Time: a day for the terraces, two days with the cave.
