About
The Dalian Seashore–Lüshunkou scenic area is in Dalian, at the southern tip of the Liaodong Peninsula, and was in the second batch of national scenic areas in 1988. It has two parts: the Dalian coast, a string of bays and rocky shores along Binhai Road south of the city, with Xinghai Bay, Laohutan and Bangchui Island; and Lüshunkou at the very tip of the peninsula, a natural harbour fought over in the First Sino-Japanese War and the Russo-Japanese War, with many battle sites, Snake Island offshore and Laotie Mountain on a route of migrating birds. The two are over 30 km apart.
Travel tips
Getting there: the coast is in the city, by bus, metro or taxi; Lüshunkou is about 40 km south-west of the city, an hour by road.
Time: a day for the coast road and a day for Lüshunkou.
Stamps
In 2005 China Post issued “Dalian Coast”, four stamps: Tiger Beach, Bangchui Island, Jinshitan and Lüshunkou.
