About
Xiaowudang Mountain (小武当风景名胜区) is a national park of China (ninth batch, designated by the State Council in 2017), located in Wudang Town, Longnan, Ganzhou, Jiangxi.
The area lies in Wudang Town in the southeast of Longnan, southern Jiangxi, near the border with Guangdong, and centres on Wudang Mountain, called "Little Wudang" for the Taoist temples on it. Longnan was changed from a county to a county-level city in 2019.
The mountain is formed of red sandstone and conglomerate, a Danxia landform with steep cliffs, a gentle summit and dense woods. The temples on it honour the Taoist deity Zhenwu and are well known in southern Jiangxi.
Travel tips
About 2 hours by expressway from Ganzhou city to Longnan, then local roads to Wudang Town. Half a day to a full day is enough. Spring and autumn are pleasant; summer is hot and wet. The paths have stone steps that are slippery after rain, so wear shoes with good grip.
