About

It is in the seventh batch of national parks of China (national scenic areas) named by the State Council in 2009.
Travel tips
Getting there: Dongjiang Lake is in Zixing, Chenzhou, Hunan. Go to Chenzhou, which has a high-speed station, then by bus about 40 minutes to Zixing. The lake is close to town, and buses or taxis reach the piers.
How to visit: Most visitors tour the lake by boat, passing islands and hills. The Dongjiang Dam, an arch dam, is a well-known Hunan water project.
Little Dongjiang mist: Little Dongjiang is the river below the lake. Early morning mist gives the best view, so stay nearby the night before.
Time: A boat tour takes a day. To see the mist, stay a night.
Season: Mist is frequent on spring and autumn mornings. Summer on the lake is cool, while winter is cold with little mist.
Where to stay: Hotels and homestays are found in Zixing town and by the lake, where rooms have good views.
Nearby: Suxianling and Wanhuayan in Chenzhou lie to the north, Danxiashan in Guangdong to the south and Jinggangshan to the northeast.
Caution: Wear a life jacket on boats. It is windy on the lake, so bring a jacket. Drive slowly in fog.
