About
Shenyang, capital of Liaoning and a sub-provincial city, is the industrial heart and a historic city of the north-east: ten districts, one county-level city and one county, about 13,000 km² with an urban area of 3,495 km², permanent population about 9.14 million (2020). One of the largest cities north of the Great Wall, it has long held economic and strategic importance.
