About
Lingtong Mountain (灵通山风景名胜区) is a national park of China (eighth batch, designated by the State Council in 2012), located in Daxi Town, Pinghe County, Zhangzhou, Fujian.
The scenic area lies in Daxi Town in southwestern Pinghe County, Zhangzhou, and is known for the peaks, rocks, springs and mist of Lingtong Mountain, facing Daqin Mountain across the valley. It is also a national geopark.
The mountain has long been described as having seven peaks, ten temples and eighteen sights. Shizi (Lion) Peak is about 1,287 m high and often has a sea of clouds. Lingtong Temple is built against a cliff; in rain the water falling in front of its gate forms a curtain. Seen from the south, Xiaomao Peak looks like a reclining Buddha head.
Travel tips
About two hours by car from Zhangzhou, and about 40 minutes from Pinghe town. Allow half a day to a day. Spring and autumn suit; summer brings cloud and thunderstorms, and there are many steps.
