About
Qishan and Pingtian Lake (齐山—平天湖风景名胜区) is a national park of China (ninth batch, designated by the State Council in 2017), located in Guichi District, Chizhou, Anhui.
The scenic area is in Guichi District, Chizhou, Anhui, and has two parts, Mount Qi to the southeast of the city and Pingtian Lake to the south, both close to the urban area.
Mount Qi is a low range with some thirty peaks and several caves. The Tang poet Du Mu, while governor of Chizhou, often visited it, and his poem 'Climbing Qishan on the Double Ninth' is the best known; inscriptions and memorial sites remain. Pingtian Lake is a large lake and wetland with open water and water birds.
Travel tips
Both parts are within a short drive or bus ride of Chizhou; half a day to a day covers them. Spring and autumn are better, and climbing around the Double Ninth is traditional. Summer is hot and the caves are damp.
