The Bianjing Tower, popularly called the Drum Tower, stands at the centre of the Dai County town: a Ming timber tower on a massive brick base, hung with plaques such as “Awe over the Three Passes” and “Heard in All Directions”. It was a symbol of the old frontier defences around Yanmenguan.
