The Wooden Pagoda of Ying County, Shanxi, formally the Sakyamuni Pagoda of Fogong Temple, stands in the temple northwest of the county town. Built in the Liao, it is octagonal, with five storeys outside and hidden mezzanines within, and over 60 m tall – the oldest and tallest timber pagoda in China, still standing after many earthquakes.
