The Shaanxi History Museum stands northwest of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda in Xi'an, its main building laid out like a Tang palace. The Zhou, Qin, Han and Tang all had their capitals in the Guanzhong region, and the museum's greatest treasures are Shang and Zhou bronzes, Han and Tang gold and silver, and murals from Tang tombs, together presenting the history of the area around ancient Chang'an.
