The Eight Ministries–Jingyue Lake scenic area is in Changchun, Jilin, and was in the second batch of national scenic areas in 1988. It has two parts: the Eight Ministries in the city centre, the former State Council and ministries of Manchukuo, which with the Puppet Emperor’s Palace recall the state Japan set up in the north-east; and Jingyue Lake in the south-eastern outskirts, a reservoir of the same period ringed by large planted forests, now a forest park. The two are some 15 km apart.
Travel tips
Getting there: both are in Changchun, the Eight Ministries in the centre and Jingyue Lake in the south-eastern outskirts, by metro, light rail or bus.
Time: a day for the palace and the Eight Ministries, a day for Jingyue Lake.
