The Stork Tower stands on the east bank of the Yellow River near the old city of Puzhou in Yongji. Wang Zhihuan’s Tang poem “On the Stork Tower” – “The white sun sets behind the hills, the Yellow River flows into the sea” – made it famous for ever after. The original tower was destroyed in the early Yuan; the present one is a recent rebuilding in Tang style.
