The Jinshanling Great Wall follows the ridges on the border of Luanping County and Miyun in Beijing, joining Gubeikou to the west and Simatai to the east. Built under the Ming general Qi Jiguang, it has closely spaced watchtowers of varied design and keeps much of its original look; it is a favourite place to photograph sunrise and seas of cloud over the wall.
