About
Detian Falls lies in Daxin County, Guangxi, where the Guichun River crosses the China–Vietnam border and drops off a limestone terrace. It is a national 5A tourist attraction. The falls have three tiers and drop about 60 to 70 metres; the part on the Vietnamese side is called Ban Gioc, and together they are about 200 metres wide.
The Guichun rises at Jingxi in Guangxi, flows into Vietnam and returns to Guangxi. Its lime-rich water keeps depositing travertine, building the steps that split the flow into curtains. Karst peaks surround the valley, with rice fields and villages on its floor.
In the wet season the curtains merge into one, and after rain the silt turns the water yellow. In the dry season the flow divides, the water runs clear and the tiers show more clearly.

Travel tips
Getting there: about 200 km from Nanning, by expressway to Daxin and then the border road; about 60 km from Daxin town. Cars stop at the car park, and shuttles run to the falls.
Viewing: viewing platforms line the slope east of the falls, and the panoramic platform up high takes in the whole scene. Paths lead down to the river for a close view, and bamboo rafts go out on the water.
Season: the flow is greatest from June to September; from November the dry season greatly reduces it.
Nearby: the Mingshi pastoral area is also in Daxin County and can be seen on the same day.
