The Zhaozhou Bridge, also called Anji Bridge, crosses the Xiao River south of Zhao County town and was built in the Sui under the craftsman Li Chun. Its single stone arch has a long span, and each shoulder is pierced by two small arches that lighten the bridge and let floodwater through. It is the oldest surviving open-spandrel stone arch bridge.
