Bingling Temple Grottoes, Yongjing, Gansu 甘肃永靖炳灵寺石窟
The Bingling Temple Grottoes, part of the Silk Roads World Heritage Site, are cut into the cliffs of the Dasigou valley on the north bank of the Yellow River and were formally founded under the Western Qin. Cave 169 bears an ink inscription dated 420, among the earliest dated inscriptions in any Chinese cave temple; the most striking sight is the Tang-dynasty Great Buddha, about 27 metres tall.
