Old Summer Palace (Yuanmingyuan), Beijing 北京圆明园
The Old Summer Palace in Haidian, on Beijing’s northwestern outskirts, was a vast Qing imperial garden made up of the Yuanming, Changchun and Qichun gardens, once called the “garden of gardens.” British and French troops burned it in 1860; it is now a ruins park, and the remains of the Dashuifa fountain among the Western-style buildings of Changchun Garden are its best-known image.
