Wenchuan Special Tourist Area, Sichuan 四川汶川特别旅游区
Wenchuan County, on the upper Min River, is one of the home areas of the Qiang people. The epicentre of the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake lay at Yingxiu in the county, after the quake Yingxiu became an earthquake memorial site, and towns such as Shuimo and Sanjiang turned to tourism. Wolong Nature Reserve in the county is a centre for giant panda research and breeding.
