Greater Khingan Mountains 大兴安岭
The Greater Khingan Mountains run through northeastern Inner Mongolia and northern Heilongjiang. Their gentle slopes are covered by vast forests of Dahurian larch, making this one of China's most important forest regions. Rivers and wetlands thread through the woods, and winters are long and severe.
