Luding Bridge, Sichuan 四川泸定桥
The Luding Bridge spans the Dadu River at Luding county town in Sichuan. An iron-chain bridge completed under the Kangxi Emperor of the Qing, it hangs on thirteen chains that carry the deck and the handrails. It lay on the old main road from Sichuan into Tibet. In 1935, on the Long March, the Red Army seized the bridge in a celebrated assault.
