Zhu De's hometown is at Ma'an Town in Yilong County, where Zhu De was born and spent his boyhood. The former residence, a Qing-period farmhouse compound of northern Sichuan, is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit, and a memorial museum stands nearby.
