Named after old Cizhou in Hebei, the Cizhou kilns were a major popular kiln of the north from the Song and Yuan onward, best known for black painting on a white ground. Ci County has the China Cizhou Kiln Museum, and the kiln sites are a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.
